Taller de Permiso

Taller de Permiso (Permission Workshop), is a multi-year campaign to demystify the municipal permitting process for micro businesses in the Buena Vida Neighborhood by informing residents of their rights under existing code, informing the city of how code could better serve the needs of residents, and de-centering the municipality as the only agency with authority to grant permission. Taller de Permiso uses food, printmaking, theater,  and video art as tools for organizing, information sharing, dreaming and strengthening networks in our community.

Hacemos la Ciudad

Hacemos La Ciudad (We Make the City) is a comprehensive civic reimagining initiative that includes a yearlong schedule of movement workshops, performances, art installations, and charrettes to consider the mind, heart, hands, and body of Brownsville. The aim of these events will be to examine and question how colonial ideology has informed the existing architecture and infrastructure of the city, and also to offer an opportunity for local residents to imagine a decolonized civic landscape and infrastructure. The project culminates in a Plan de Arte Cívica del Pueblo Entero (Civic Art Plan of the People).
