Ambulante Power: Imaginistas to Launch Vendor Guide for Street Vendors

Throughout the summer, Las Imaginistas, have worked collaboratively with local artists to develop a vendor guide to help local vendors learn about vending ordinances and local markets. The project began in May with the Reportistas Printmaking Workshop taught by Celeste de Luna. During the workshop, youth artists interviewed local vendors and learned about local and statewide ordinances for food vending. The artists created prints representing the vendors’ stories and the information they learned about food vending laws.

Brownsville artist Emily Hinojosa, our summer fellow, spent the last few weeks designing the guide, which will feature the Reportisas’ artwork, along with vendor profiles and information for registering and selling at local markets. The FREE guide titled will be available for digital download through our website soon, and will be released in print at an upcoming Vendedores Townhall on September 21st in Brownsville (location TBA).

Please visit our website and social media pages in the coming weeks to see the guide, and for more information about the townhall.
