Las Imaginistas are a socially engaged art collective working along the US/ Mexico border. The collective uses art as a tool for radical imagining and bridgemaking, bringing together diverse community stakeholders to make lasting change in their communities.

The group upends traditional planning processes by enthusiastically folding in community insights into every phase of their work. Community members are not just involved in Imaginstas projects, but they are co-designers and co-collaborators of the projects themselves.

Our process places a strong emphasis on the radical act of Dreaming. We dream, we build bridges, we build community capacity, and we take action to embody and construct new futures. We do this by:

*Uplifting the incredible work and culture of our communities

*Building capacity of our communities

*Fostering spaces for creative imagination

*Bridging community members to decision makers

Imaginistas are not just imagineers,

we are builders, we are makers and do-ers

working to construct a more equitable

and just future for our communities

Hacemos la Ciudad

Hacemos La Ciudad (We Make the City) in Brownsville, Texas; is a comprehensive civic reimagining initiative that includes a yearlong schedule of movement workshops, performances, art installations, and charrettes to consider the mind, heart, hands, and body of Brownsville. The aim of these events will be to examine and question how colonial ideology has informed the existing architecture and infrastructure of the city, and also to offer an opportunity for local residents to imagine a decolonized civic landscape and infrastructure. The project culminates in a Plan de Arte Cívica del Pueblo Entero (Civic Art Plan of the People).
