Las Imaginistas Develop Guide for Local Vendors.

Throughout the summer, Las Imaginistas, have worked in collaboration with local artists to develop a vendor guide to help local vendors learn about vending ordinances and local markets. The project began in May with the Reportistas Printmaking Workshop taught by Celeste de Luna.

During the workshop, youth artists interviewed local vendors and learned about local and statewide ordinances for food vending. The artists created prints representing the vendors’ stories and the information they learned about food vending laws.

Brownsville artist Emily Hinojosa, our summer arts fellow, spent the last few weeks designing the guide, which will feature the Reportisas’ artwork, along with vendor profiles and information for registering and selling at local markets. The FREE guide titled “Ambulante Power!” will be available for digital download through our website in spring of 2020, and will be released in print through a collaboration with Border Workers United.
